Test and Development Systems

Designing a prototype or manufacturable product is frequently only part of a project. If the concept is novel there may be associated R&D activities that require custom-built test and measurement systems. If a product is to be manufactured in significant quantities it is likely that automated production testing will be necessary.

Giastar has designed and built several systems for testing, monitoring and gathering experimental data from communications systems. The design of this test and development equipment is no less important (and is sometimes more of a challenge) than designing the equipment to be tested - the importance of effective, reliable test systems is frequently underestimated.

Equipment for Development, Field Trials, and System Monitoring

Satcomms quality of service monitor system. Used in evaluations of the subjective speech quality of a satcomms system.
Mobile antenna trials equipment. A system for gathering data to assess and compare the performance of various vehicle-mounted mobile antennas.
Remote spectrum monitor system. Monitors IF/RF signals across a TCP/IP network.

Automatic Test Equipment (ATE)

PC ISA card for type approval test set enhancements.
Telephone line interface (DAA) for voice codec approval tests.
