Chemical milling, or precision etching, is a manufacturing technique that is particularly useful for subminiature RF systems, where effective screening is required but the minimum wall thickness of traditional milled enclosures is unacceptable.
If chemically milled enclosures are designed with a good understanding of the manufacturing processes and EMC requirements, it is possible to achieve an unusual combination of screening effectiveness, low weight, high strength, and low cost.
