The IFC1 IF converter board converts between broadband 70MHz IFs and a digital I/Q interface. It is a small, low-power converter which may be used in fixed or mobile applications.
The standard digital interface is a simple 16-bit parallel bus with associated read/write and clock signals, however this is generated within a CPLD and other interface standards can be accommodated, either within this board or by an attached interface card
The transmit signal is generated by an AD9857 quadrature digital upconverter, and the receive downconverter is an AD9874. Additional on-board DDC clock generation and frequency synthesis allows some of the limitations of these devices to be circumvented. The result is a self-contained duplex converter capable of meeting most mobile radio and satcomms specifications.
This board is normally used as a component within larger systems provided by Giastar, however it can also be supplied as a stand-alone board for OEM use. The digital interface is fully documented, allowing customers to produce their own interface boards if the standard ones are not suitable.
