Mobile Antenna Field Trials System

This system was used to evaluate and compare the performance of various mobile satcomms antennas, and to check theoretical propagation models.

The mobile hardware comprised:

Narrowband CW receiver with I, Q and C/No outputs, to monitor forward channel.
Data recorder to capture the receiver output data for off-line analysis.
GPS receiver and fluxgate compass to allow position and orientation to be logged with the receiver data.
CW transmitter to allow monitoring of the return channel at a land earth station (LES).
PC, with control and logging functions.
